CDA confers youth leadership award, gives 25K incentive

Congressman Cheeno D. Almario graced Davao Oriental State University’s (DOrSU) 3rd commencement exercises on July 19, 2023, at the University Grandstand, City of Mati, Davao Oriental.

On the said occasion, the solon co-celebrated the success of almost 2 thousand graduates of bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Davao Oriental’s lone state university.

He also turned over the highly coveted Congressional District Award (CDA) for Youth Leadership to Mr. Cymon James A. Barbas, the outgoing student council president and a cum laude graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) major in Filipino. The award was based on a meticulous selection of students who exhibited leadership and academic excellence, thus catalyzing positive impacts on the youth sector.

As a young legislator, Cong. Cheeno recognizes the need to empower student leaders and academic achievers by giving a plaque and a cash incentive amounting to 25 thousand pesos.

“I want to honor the youth who showed exemplary performance in their academics and at the same time utilized their leadership skills to add value to their respective communities,” Cong. Cheeno remarked.

The solon also pledged to give the same award annually. Mr. Barbas is the second recipient of the award, following Ms. Hanna Fe B. Morales last school year. #
