The Department of Information and Communication technology Region XI in partnership with Huawei Philippines hosted the first ICT Tech Summit with the theme Advancing towards Digital Transformation in Region XI.
DICT Region XI led by Regional Director Eva May Dela Rosa presented the region’s Five Year Digital Master Plan. In his keynote address, Secretary Ivan John R. Uy said that the master plan aims to address the digital divide in the region and help accelerate social and economic advancement, as well as the different strategies by DICT X1 in collaboration with the different LGUs and stakeholders. He also said that the event affirms the collaborative efforts and critical roles of the LGUS and the private sector to make internet access a reality.
Sharing their expertise and knowledge during the event are Secretary Maria Belen Acosta of Mindanao Development Authority, Hon. Eric Manalastas-President of ICT Davao, NEDA XI Regional Assistant Director, Asst. Director Guilberto L. Altura, Hon. Congressman Cheeno Almario-Vice Chairman of ICT Committee-House of Representatives, Mr. Jhonny Paul Lagura -Executive Director of Iligan ICT Council, Engr. Eduardo Tuquib-DICT XI OIC Technical Operations Division for the Government side and representing Huawei are Mr. Alex Luan, President of Huawei Phils. Enterprise Business Group, Mr. Arnold “Arnie” Alvarez-CTO & IT Director, Charles Bryan Patacsil-Solutions Manager, and Mar Carl Gu-IP Director of Huawei Philippines Enterprise Group.
In his speech, Huawei Philippines Enterprise Business Group President Mr. Alex Luan, , underscored the need to help the Philippines in digital transformation to support Philippine Businesses to recover and grow faster to rebuild resilience and prepare for the future, use the power of technology to support a better digital Philippines to make technical a reality.
The closing speech delivered by Engr. Tuquib, DICT Region 11 in behalf of Director Eva May dela Rosa said “ DICT Davao Region, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Huawei for their support in today’s event. We are truly grateful for their commitment.”
Attended by more than 100 participants from different Local Government Units, Government offices and attached agencies in Davao, the event hopes to inspire Davao LGUs and Government Agencies to adapt digitalization and continue the journey towards Digital Transformation.
